RHPF Member of the Month

Tom Davis has been a member of the Rhea Heritage Preservation Foundation since its chartering in 2016 and is currently vice president of the foundation board of directors. He has been involved with the Scopes Trial Play since 1992.

“I joined the RHPF to help perpetuate telling the true story of the Scopes Trial,” Tom said.

A former journalist, Tom recently retired from Rhea County government after nine and a half years as administrator of elections. He also served as a member of the Rhea County Commission.

Tom and his wife, Susan, have three children and five grandchildren. Tom enjoys wood turning and reading.

The Scopes Trial Play & Festival in July is Tom’s favorite RHPF event, while his second favorite is Nokian Tyres Summer Nights concerts in June. He enjoys working with other board members and getting to meet guests at RHPF events.

“The Scopes Trial is a huge part of Rhea County's story, and we need to tell that story well,” Tom said. “This is an event we in Rhea County should be proud of because our predecessors had the courage to ask questions that are still on everybody's mind.”
