Rhea County Summer Bazaar kicks off June 6 at the courthouse

WHO:    Rhea Heritage Preservation Foundation

WHAT:    Community Market Day for home-produced goods

WHEN:    First Saturday of the month, June through September (except for July)—June 6, July 11, Aug. 1, Sept 5.

WHERE:    North side of the Rhea County Courthouse in Dayton. Customers must park in order to shop.

WHY:    Most small towns historically had a traditionally fixed day—often weekly or monthly—when a town’s marketplace opened for vendors to sell produce, goods, and livestock. Historically and currently, in many cultures it acts as a central hub for commerce and community gathering. RHPF wants to restore that community gathering place in Rhea County.
